| Level of studies | Clinical-must have begun clinical studies |
| Type of Clerkship | Only clinical clerkships
For receiving the Certificate, 80% attendance and Student Handbook are compulsory. |
| Languages | Lithuanian, English, Russian. |
| Duration of Clerkship | 4 weeks |
| Working Conditions | 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, extra work is welcome. It depends on tutor and student. |
| Disciplines | The availability of disciplines depends on the Local Exchange Committee (LC).
LCs available: 1. Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine (Vilnius University, Santariskiu Clinics) 2. Kaunas University of Medicine (Kaunas University of Medicine Hospital) in Vilnius LC available disciplines are: allergy and clinical immunology anaesthesia family medicine female cancers genetics gynaecology/obstetrics hematology intensive and critical care internal medicine-cardiology internal medicine-endocrinology internal medicine-gastroenterology internal medicine-general internal medicine-hematology internal medicine-invasive cardiology internal medicine-nephrology internal medicine-noninvasive cardiology internal medicine-pulmonary internal medicine-rheumatology oncology ophthalomogy otorhinolaringology paediatrics radiology radiotherapy respiratory medicine surgery-cardiothoracic surgery surgery-cardiovascular surgery surgery-gastrointestinal surgery surgery-general surgery surgery-vascular surgery urology in Kaunas-all clinical disciplins, except phychiatry, infectious deseases, Family medicine. There is no Internal Medicine department - please specify! Placement in the desired field is not always possible, so be sure to fill in more than one choice. If you fill in only one choice, this does not mean you will be placed only in that department, but that you agree to any department if the department of choice is not possible. |
| Periods & Towns | Vilnius- July (1st-31st), August (1st-30st).
Kaunas - July (1st-29st), August (1st-29th) If you will come earlier/left later than your exchange period starts, we cannot guarantee providing you a iving place! Calendar months only! |
| Application documents & deadline | All AFs should arrive until March 1st, 2010.
We need only electronic AFs! For those who need visas: scanned passport by email CA deadline: 8 weeks in advance CC deadline: 6 weeks before the beginning of the clerkship |
| Digital documents required | For those who need visas - scanned passport by email and correct adress of your living place, otherwise we won't be able to prepare an IL for you! |

| Insurance | All exchange students must have health and accident insurance for the period of their clerkship (it should be arranged individually). Students are obliged to bring their insurance certificate with them. If this regulation was denied, we would have the right of cancelling the clerkship.
Malpractice insurance is not required. |
| Pocket Money | Pocket money is not given |
| Board & Lodging | Board: One meal per day five days a week (except national holidays and weekends)
If there are any special preferences(vegetarian, food-allergy), please, inform us in advance! Lodging: All students are hosted in student dormitories. Some parameters differ in each city, see more there. The student will be asked to pay a bail for his lodging which will be returned if no damage to the room is made. |
| Social Program | We offer a huge variety of social program together with all our local organisations.
More information you will get with the Welcome letter from your CP. |
| Substitutions | Substitutions are accepted 8 weeks in advance. Substitutions are possible if the students are of the same sex, same city, same period and have applied for the same department.
All changes must be reported to NEO by e-mail! |
| Cancellations | Cancellations must arrive at least 5 weeks before the start of the clerkship.
We prefer substitutions instead of cancellations ;) |
| Visas | You can find the list of countries whose citizens DO NOT require visas at www.urm.lt.
If the student requires visa, he/she should make a note in his/her e-AF about his/her place of birth (country and city) and citizenship. Fill up e-AF very carefully, especialy passport number (!), date of birth and adrress. Please inform us a head of time about the visa requirements for your country and your students. WE NEED A COPY OF STUDENT'S PASSPORT sent by email to NEO! |
| Special remarks | Unilateral exchanges to Lithuania have to pay a fee of 250 EURO. The fee should be given first arrival day by cash.
Students who would like to be placed together must clearly state this in both AFs. We will also be having a Greeting Party. So, please do not forget to bring your National Drinks or Food! :) We do not take the responsibility (board, lodging etc.) of any friends or relatives that accompany you. Pets are not allowed. Don't forget to take Your ISIC with You as it gives discount for visiting many objects of culture, trains, transregional busses White coats, shoes for the hospital and stethoscopes are required. No student will have board and lodging out of the dates specified in the CA. Clerkships may be automatically cancelled when the Local Committee receives claims from the hospital or the dormitories. |
