Insurance Malpractice insurance is NOT required. All medical students doing a clinical rotation in QUEBEC, foreign or local, are covered by la Direction des assurance du reseau de sante et des services social (DARSSS).

ALL students MUST have health insurance and proof must be sent with the confirmation card or handed in upon arrival.
Pocket Money $200 CAD for food
Board & Lodging Free housing is arranged by Local Committees in student apartments, with access to kitchen.
$200 CAD will be given to the student at the beginning of the clerkship to pay for food.
Transportation and other expenses are not included (Sherbrooke: buses are free for students).
Social Program Varies according to the Local Committees (LC), the school calendar and availability of members. Our goal is not to fill all spare time with activities and we do not have much budget for social events. Every student will have a contact person who will take care of the social program.
Substitutions We strongly discourage substitutions because most schools will not accept them. Once the CA is sent, no changes in date, city or department will be allowed. Postponing is not allowed.
Cancellations Inform the NEO as soon as possible. Cancellations definitely jeopardise our student capacity for the future. We are facing a clerkship shortage because of the increased number of admissions. Hence every clerkship is important and the cancelled ones can only further endanger the SCOPE program in Quebec.
Visas Visa-Some countries need visas for ENTRY into Canada. We will send you an invitation letter if required. Contact your local embassy and visit www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visa_e.html

Permit–IFMSA incomings do a short term internship (less than 4 months and without salary)therefore you do NOT need a workers’ permit. Mention article R186-P when you apply for a visa.

Certificate-Immigration requires a complete physical exam and vaccination certificate from DESIGNATED physicians (ONLY) in your country. You can find the list of recognized MDs at http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medecins.aspx
Special remarks Please bring your white coat and a stethoscope. No jeans or running shoes in the hospital.

The guidelines for the motivation letter :
-Why do you want to do a clerkship in Quebec?
-What do you expect from your clerkship? (please state if you are using clerkship for your credit).
-What would you like to do during your clerkship?
-Do you have any clinical experience?
