| Professional Exchange : Exchange Conditions of APEMH(Peru) | |
| Level of studies | Previous Clinical Experience in the requested fields is mandatory. |
| Type of Clerkship | Clinical Clerkships |
| Languages | - An intermediate or advanced spanish language certificate is required. Students cannot come without the certificate!
- Some departments MAY accept basic spanish speakers. Ask the NEO about this. However, it is VERY recommendable to have AT LEAST some knowledge about the language. If not, there will be difficulties to communicate with the patients. |
| Duration of Clerkship | 4 weeks |
| Working Conditions | - Monday to Friday, normally from 08:00 to 14:00. This might change depending on the student, department or LC.
- Night shifts in hospitals also depend on the department and exchange student. - Exchange students work under the same conditions as Peruvian students, so they must obey all the regulations of the hospital and the counselor. - It is mandatory to attend 80% of the clerkship in order to obtain the IFMSA certificate. SO PLEASE DO SO. Shorter attendance without asking permission to the LEO or NEO will result in not receiving IFMSA certificate. If you wish to attend 3 weeks instead of 4, write it down in your AF and notify the NEO. Also check Periods & Towns |
| Disciplines | We try to place students in one of their desired departments, but there's no guarantee if the AF is late.
- Internal Medicine includes: nephrology, tropical medicine, cardiology, pulmonary, gastroenterology, endocrinology. - Surgery: General - Emergency Medicine - Gynecology/Obstetrics - Paediatrics - Other sub-specialties are available but not guaranteed through the whole year. |
| Periods & Towns | You can come to Lima, Arequipa, Chiclayo, Piura, Cusco, Trujillo & Tacna. Do not fill in the AF just with the cities, but specify which LC. For instance, if you want to come to Trujillo, you should put either Trujillo-UCV or Trujillo-UPAO. The same with Lima, Arequipa and Tacna.

SPECIAL REMARK ON UNILATERAL INCOMINGS: The price for unilateral incomings is 300 EURO, which should be transfered to bank account as soon as the CA is received. The NEO of APEMH will get in contact with the NEO and the student directly, in order to give reliance to the process. The invoice of the transfer should be returned together with the CC. Any taxes concerning the bank transfer will have to be paid by the student or the sending NMO. THE VIOLATION OF THIS RULES WILL IMMEDIATELY LEAD TO THE CANCELLATION OF THE CLERKSHIP. |
