| Working Conditions | From Monday to Friday, at least 5 hours/day (If you want to work more just ask...:)
In order to get the certificate student must attend the department at least for 80% of the clerkship duration; in case he won't, the LEO has the right to cancel the clerkship, not providing the certificate, pocket money, boarding nor lodging. |
| Disciplines | Almost all Disciplines are availables.
There are only few Preclinical options (Pathology, Physiology, Microbiology, Anatomy) not in all LCs. |

Attention: You received a scheduled contract, so contact your NEO or LEO to know in which month you’re supposed to come to Italy and choose only LCs hosting in that specific month! (choosing a LC not available for your period will be ignored) The Incoming student has to check on the web page of WikiSCOPE the availability of the cities and departments in the chosen period. 1) One copy of Application Form (PDF format!, Not electronic format) 2) 1 copy of Passport / ID Card ( ID for European Students) 3) Two Passport-size photos 4) Health Insurance: SEE “INSURANCE” BELOW FOR SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS (Must be shown to the Leo upon arrival! No Health insurance, No clerkship!) 5) Language Certificate 6) Proof of vaccinations – the HBV vaccine is MANDATORY ( will be asked upon arrival, it's compulsory to make activities in hospital) All 6 points must be provided not later than the March Meeting 2009. Some LC could ask for some extra documents directly from the student after the placement made by the NEOs. AF must be sent AT LEAST 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE START OF THE CLERKSHIP EITHER FOR BILATERAL INCOMINGS THAN FOR THE UNILATERAL ONES! (otherwise the student can not be accepted!) CC must be sent at least 4 weeks in advance otherwise we cannot guarante the clerkship anymore. | Insurance | HEALTH INSURANCE is compulsory in all the Local Committees, and must be sent to Italy along with the Card of Confirmation, or directly shown to the LEO.
ACCIDENT INSURANCE: BOLOGNA, BRESCIA, FERRARA, MESSINA, MILANO, MODENA, NOVARA, PADOVA, PARMA, PAVIA, ROMA TOR VERGATA, SASSARI, UDINE require it! In all the other LCs for European Students the European Health Card Insurance (ex E111) is enough! VARESE requires ACCIDENT INSURANCE + LIABILITY INSURANCE (the second one can be directly made upon arrival; it costs 15 euros – if you want to make it on your own in your Country, please ask first the LEO of Varese for the insurance limits required!) |
| Pocket Money | some LC could give pocket money instead of board |
| Board & Lodging | Lodging: Free on Bilateral agreement
Board: at least one free meal per day in the LCs that don’t give pocket money. Board could not be offered on weekends. In some LC ’s instead of free meal, a Mensa Card will be provided, giving the student a reduced price for meal. Friends, relatives and pets are not welcome, sorry! |
| Social Program | It depends on the Local Committee.
Usually there is no social program in our exam period: January,February,June and July, but it depends on the LC. |
| Substitutions | NEO and NEO Assistant must be informed about substitution at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the Clerkship. No Substitution in the last minute!
Substitution must be made between students of the same sex who accept the same period, the same city and hospital department No substitution are allowed after Invitation Latter was made! !this is mandatory! Substitutions are valid only if signed by the NEO. No substitutions between LEO‘s. |
| Cancellations | We prefer substitutions to cancellations. In any case it would be kind to communicate the cancellation in advance to the National Office or to the Local Committee, even best, to both. |
| Visas | In the last years we had lots of problem with the Italian Embassies all around the world who often made problems in giving VISA for Italy.PLEASE APPLY FOR HOLIDAY VISA!!NOT STUDY AND NOT WORKING VISA!!
We will do our best to help your students in getting VISA, but often the problems with VISA are bigger than us...in this case we can't assure you that the students will get the VISA. We will send an official IL but if it isn't enough we cannot do anything more due to the way the Embassies work.These units won' t be postponed for the next year |
| Special remarks | IMPORTANT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE HIS HANDBOOK, AND FILL IT IN DURING THE CLERKSHIP! IF THE STUDENT WON’T FILL IN THE HANDBOOK AND THE eEF HE WON’T RECEIVE THE EXCHANGE CERTIFICATE!
Whatever change in the clerkship (substitution, cancellation request of changing of the period..) must be sent to the NEO. We don’t guarantee you’ll be placed in one of the 3 Cities you chose. We do our best to satisfy your requests, but sometimes it’s not possible. Units not assigned won’t be considered as postponed units and cannot be re-used for the next year, except if both NEO ‘s are agree. SISM or any person, hosting hospitals, dorms, social program organizers, operators & hosts, etc. are not responsible in any way for health and safety of the exchange student. The exchangee is responsible for the damage or misuse of materials, rooms or whatsoever that is lent during his/her stay and practice. The exchangee will pay any cost.
