| Professional Exchange : Exchange Conditions of AMSB(Bulgaria) | |
| Level of studies | Third year or higher. |
| Type of Clerkship | Clinical clerkship. |
| Languages | English, Bulgarian, others on special agreement. |
| Duration of Clerkship | 4 weeks |
| Working Conditions | Depending upon faculty, the requirements would usually be 5 days a week around 5 hours a day. You need to attend 80% to get a certificate. |
| Disciplines | Plovdiv: Endocrinology, Hematology(only July), Internal medicine(only July), Nephrology, Neurology, Rare diseases, Pediatrics, Surgery;
Sofia: Anesthesiology and intensive care, Dermatology, Surgery, Internal medicine, Medical genetics, Obstetrics and gynecology, Ophtalmology, Pediatrics, other disciplines on special agreement; Stara Zagora: Internal medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics; Varna: Obstetrics and gynecology, Internal medicine, Surgery. |
| Periods & Towns | Plovdiv: all year except January, June and December
Sofia: all year except January and December Stara Zagora: all year except January, February, June, August and December Varna: all year except January and June only CALENDAR MONTHS! The number of units accepted in Sofia is limited to 20 per month, in Varna 15 per month. |
| Application documents & deadline | e-AF (with Motivation letter included) sent before the March Meeting (for clerkships during the summer months, incl. September).
All others documents on CD. At the MM: 1 AF 1 passport photo 1 copy of the language certificate 1 copy of health insurance 1 recommendation letter All documents must be on CD. |

| Insurance | Health insurance required. Malpractice insurance is advisable. |

| Board & Lodging | Free on bilateral exchange.
250 euro on unilateral exchange (Payment upon arrival). Board - depends on the local committee - in a students' canteen or cafeteria or pocket money for lunch. Lodging: in a students' dormitory, hostel or appartements. SOFIA - Students will have to pay 50 euros upon arrival and will be fully reimbursed if they leave the flat undamaged. Extra nights - depending on the LC. |
| Social Program | Best social program in JULY and AUGUST - trip to the seaside, traditional bulgarian cities, mountains.
For the other months it depends on the LC. The social program is not for free. |
| Substitutions | Same sex, period and department. Not later than 3 weeks before the beginning of the clerkship. |
| Cancellations | We prefer to have the information 3 weeks in advance. |

| Special remarks | The students should bring their own white/green coat (depends on which department they are accepted in) and stethoscope.
Compulsory vaccinations : hepatitis B, diphteria, tetanos, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella titers, negativ TB test THEY HAVE TO BE UPDATED!! Student must be able to prove his/her vaccinal status upon arrival at the hospital. |
