| Professional Exchange : Exchange Conditions of FASMR(Romania) | |
| Level of studies | Clinical and preclinical students are accepted, depending on the departments. |
| Type of Clerkship | Clinical or preclinical clerkships (please mention until MM if you have any students that want to come to Romania on preclinical clerkships).
We cannot provide PREclinical clerkships in JUNE,JULY,AUGUST, SEPTEMBER,DECEMBER and JANUARY, but preclinical students may go to clinical departments. |
| Languages | English (but you can use French or German in some departments) |
| Duration of Clerkship | 1 month, preferably from the 1st of each month, but not necessarily. |
| Working Conditions | Mainly 5 hours each day from Monday to Friday. It depends a lot on the hospital program.
You need to complete at least 80% of your clerkship to receive a certificate. Please don't forget your IFMSA logbook. If you do not bring your own, we will give you one of ours. |
| Disciplines | Mainly all clinical departments are accepted. Think well to choose disciplines in which communication with the patients is not essential, since not all the patients speak English.
The preclinical disciplines are fewer and depend on the cities and periods. |
| Periods & Towns | PLEASE CAREFULLY CHECK THE AVAILABILITY OF THE CITY FOR THE PERIOD YOU WANT BEFORE FILLING IN THE APPLICATION FORM!!
1. Bucharest: available in April, May, August, September, October, November. 2. Cluj-Napoca: available in May, July, August, October, November, January 3. Craiova: available all year, except from: - 15th of January to the 1st of March; - 15th of June to the 20th of July; 4. Iasi: available all year, except for February and June 5. Oradea: available all year, except for December, January,June,July 6. Sibiu: available only for March, April, May, July and September 7. Timisoara: available all year except December, January, February and June. 8.Targu Mures: available only in July,August,September |
| Application documents & deadline | Must be sent 3 months before the clerkship starts, but are preferably handed over at the IFMSA March Meeting in hard copy or scanned in electronic version and sent by email.
The application should include: • 1 IFMSA Application Form; • 1 photo (passport size); • English Language Certificate; • A copy of passport; • A copy of Insurance (to be presented upon arrival); • Medical document which certifies that the student is in a good state of health. Must include proof of hepatitis B vaccination and proof that the student is not suffering from tuberculosis, chronic hepatitis, syphilis. Also, any other medical condition must be mentioned in the application documents! • Do not forget to send your Card of Confirmation on time!! |

| Insurance | It is a very important requirement. Every student must have it during his/her stay in Romania. |
| Pocket Money | Only if it’s specified in the contract. |
| Board & Lodging | Boarding is free and will consist in either meals at certain facilities or money to cover the price for at least one lunch a day, depending on the period and the LC. Lodging is free (under bilateral basis) provided in students’ hostels. In some cities the student must pay a deposit which will be returned unless the room has suffered any damage. The unilateral fee is 250 Euros. |
| Social Program | Mainly in the summer period (July, August, September): tours of touristic regions of Romania at the end of the weeks - Dracula's castle, the Danube Delta-UNESCO heritage, the Black Sea seashore, the beautiful monasteries in Bucovina, wild mountain climbs and so on. |
| Substitutions | Substitutions must be made in the same city and period. Substitutions must be sent no later than 2 weeks before the beginning of the clerkship for non visa countries and 2 months for visa countries. |
| Cancellations | We prefer substitutions to cancellations, but if they have to be made, we need to know at least 3 weeks in advance. |
| Visas | See www.mae.ro (English version available)
Please apply for a tourist visa. If you need to receive any additional documents from us, such as an accommodation proof, or anything else, please contact us at least 3 weeks in advance, especially if you need the hard copy sent by post. |
| Special remarks | No student will be accepted without the original CA. No student will have boarding and lodging out of the dates specified in the CA. Clerkship may be automatically canceled when the local committee receives claims from the hospital or the students’ hostel. If some students want to stay together they have to write it down in the AF. We cannot place more than 2 students together in the same city and period. Companies, pets and any other kind of friends are (usually) not welcome. |
