Info for the NEOs: units for January and February have to be signed specificly for these months. Full calendar months only! (1st-31st of one calendar month or 4 weeks within this period) We have 36 medical schools/universities and they all take incoming students. Check out the detailed descriptions of our Local Committes on the SCOPE page and find out the variety of our cities: http://wiki.ifmsa.org/scope/index.php?title=Germany Germany is more than Berlin and Munich :-) You might be suprised. There is no need to be dissappointed if you are placed in a city you don't know yet. Aachen Berlin Bochum Bonn Cologne Dresden Duesseldorf Erlangen Essen Frankfurt Freiburg Giessen Goettingen Greifswald Halle Hamburg Hannover Heidelberg Homburg Jena Kiel Leipzig Luebeck Magdeburg Mainz Mannheim Marburg Muenster Munich LMU Munich TU Regensburg Rostock Tuebingen Ulm Witten Wuerzburg Periods stated on CAs are meant DEFINITELY, not approximately! Lodging is only covered within this period. In case the student wants to arrive before or stay longer, he has to check with the Local Committe before the arrival and be aware that lodging would be at own costs. |

via Post: Proof of enrollment (see below), minimum 10 weeks in advance bring and show upon arrival: - Proof of vaccination - immunisation status of Hepatits B and Serology of Hepatitis C - TBC-Mantoux Test - Health insurance The LEO might ask you to send the following per email before arrival: - photo - letter of motivation (should include reasons for field desired) - language certificate - proof of health insurance VERY IMPORTANT: Proof of enrollment must be send as original document (in paper, not scanned, with seal and sign, covering the exchange period). The Original proof of enrollment must be send to our Exchange Office at least 10 weeks prior to the Exchange as it is essential for the work permit request. Send it to: bvmd Austausch, Kennedyallee 91 - 103, D-53175 Bonn, Germany |
| Digital documents required | Non! Just eAF via Database |
| Card of Acceptance deadline (weeks in advance) |
8 |
| Card of Confirmation deadline (weeks in advance) |
4 |
| Insurance | Health insurance is required
IMPORTANT: The proof of insurance must be shown upon arrival together with a list in German or English, which states what the insurance will cover (illness, accidents, home transport, up to which amount etc.) If the student is not able to do so, we will conclude an insurance on behalf of the incoming here in Germany. If his insurance works with the method of prepaying money, the student shall be prepared to pay by himself. bvmd-Germany cannot pay any money in advance for the student. |
| Pocket Money | NONE |
| Board & Lodging | Free on bilateral agreement.
Usually in student hostels or living communities, apartments (please note that all are mixed sex). Each exchangee receives a grant from bvmd-Germany by which board and lodging is covered. The unilateral exchange fee is 300 Euro. This money has to be transferred to the bank account of the LC the Incoming has been placed in BEFORE we send out the CA! This fee doesn't include any board. |
| Social Program | Usually it is offered by all local committees (LEOs), you find examples on the German SCOPE page: http://wiki.ifmsa.org/scope/index.php?title=Germany
Have in mind, that the LEOs do their job on a voluntary basis, parallel to their studies and obligations; the exchangee should prove his independence and not expect a care program 24 hours a day. |
| Substitutions | ALL CHANGES MUST BE REPORTED TO THE NEOs!
Substitutes must be for the same period, same town, same department and same language. IMPORTANT: For countries needing VISA for Germany, a substitution might be possible until 6 weeks before the beginning of the clerkship as the time would be too short to organize all VISA-documents. Please be aware that VISA procedures take time and that we are not responsible for any delay in VISA issuing caused by substitutions. |
| Cancellations | We prefer substitutes to cancellations. Please inform us as soon as possible. |
| Visas | Please contact your embassy if you need VISA to Germany. Every student is in charge of getting his/her own VISA. This is not part of the German Organization!
We will provide CA, IL and additional documents if needed and inform the local embassies about the exchangee. |
| Special remarks | Send the card of confirmation ("CC") vie database at least 4 weeks before the start of your clerkship!
Incomings have to bring along own stethoscope, white coat, reflex hammer, international students ID-card. Incomings are not supposed to bring along relatives, boy- or girlfriend, pets etc. To all NEOs: Please note that units not used this year will not be accepted as ”left-overs” next year, unless something else has been agreed upon with the German NEOs! |
