  Professional Exchange : Exchange Conditions of MEDSAR(Rwanda)
Level of studies Clinical Years/Semesters.
Type of Clerkship Clinical clerkships
Languages English or French (french is mostly used only in Obstetrics and Gynaecology department)
Duration of Clerkship 4 weeks.
Working Conditions 5 days/week & 8 hours/day,
Same conditions like Rwandese students (local).
Disciplines Only these disciplines accept exchange Students;
- Internal medicine
- General Surgery
- Obstetrics & gynecology
- Pediatrics
Periods & Towns The exchange program runs from April throughout the year.(June,July and August are busy months so not sure deal), months after summer are more sure deal.

The available city at the moment is Butare(Huye town)only.
Application documents & deadline AF must be sent 3 months before the commencement of the clerkship.

Insurance Health insurance is a MUST!
Pocket Money None
Board & Lodging Free on bilateral exchange, boarding and lodging are at the Student restaurant and Hostels respectively.
The hostels are near the Hospital(no need of taking a bus!).

300 Euros on Unilateral (In coming). Boarding and lodging included on the fee!
Social Program Social Programs are arranged by the Local Exchange Officers.
Weekends and some evenings, LEOs arrange different social programs.
Substitutions Substitutes must be of the same sex, for the same period (e.g. 4 weeks) and same department.
IMPORTANT: if we have not received the AF of the Substitute within 20 days after the cancellation, the place is lost. There is no guarantee that substitute can be placed on the same dates of the canceled student.
ALL CHANGES MUST BE REPORTED AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!
Cancellations We prefer substitutes to cancellations.
Please inform us AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!
Visas The applicant must get in touch with the nearby Rwandan Embassy in their country (or neighboring country) if all fails they will get the visa upon arrival . The Rwanda NMO will send a recommendation letter and Invitation letter. Some countries do not require visa to enter Rwanda.But you can get visa upon arrival at Kigali International Airport.
Special remarks -Letter of motivation is required.
-Incoming has to bring along his/her own stethoscope and white
coat.
-Exchanges with poor language proficiency(English or French) will be rejected.
-Students not showing up at the arranged date or send late CCs cause a lot of trouble and will lose accommodation and/or position at the hospital after 5 days without any announcement
